It’s easy to get stuck in a routine. You go to work everyday at the same place and same time. Even if you love your job, doing the same thing over and over can make you feel boring. You may come home and just want to chill. Understandable since the days can be long.

That routine can easily seep into your dating life. Your date ask about yourself and you refer everything back to your job or what you saw on TV last night (because after getting off of work that’s all many of us have the strength to do).

The funny thing is your date is experiencing the same thing. In fact they work longer hours at a job that is more boring than yours. Yet when they talk about their life it almost sounds like they are the ultimate adventurer.

They are not. They get car sick and are afraid of heights but they talk about their life, passions, dislikes and goals in such a vivid manner that you cannot help but get swept up in the excitement.

You can convey the same feeling without exaggerating anything. Everyone has things they feel strongly about and things they want to do before time runs out.

There’s probably a funny story of something that happened to you many moons ago, waiting to be introduced to your date. The point is to make the connection and not let your date carry the load when it comes to communication.

You may get the feeling your stories don’t compare to theirs. Well guess what? They are not supposed to. Different lives lived produce different results. But that does not make the life you’ve experienced any less valid or interesting.

If you have a stamp collection and can talk about it with passion, you may be surprised to find your date genuninely riveted to what you have to say as well as passionate to know more and in the process find out a little bit more about you.
