Why Is Forgiveness Important In A Relationship?

by Gregory Richards

Let me start with a quote from Mother Theresa: “If we really want to love, we must learn how to forgive”. Forgiveness is a cornerstone of any successful couple. In this article we will explore the importance of forgiveness in a relationship.

People can hurt us in many ways and people closest to us can hurt us the most. Forgiveness isn’t always easy, it’s actually quite difficult. It’s all about freeing yourself from negative emotions, resentment, and anger. Forgiving is all about letting go.

We all make mistakes, no one is perfect. But remember, forgiving is not forgetting and just because you forgive does not mean that you allow anyone to continually hurt you. It’s not a sign of weakness, it’s a sign of strength. Gandhi once said: “The weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is the attribute of the strong.”

Inability to forgive can have a devastating effect on any relationship. How can you find love and happiness, if you continue to cling on to things that happened in the past. It takes a lot of courage to forgive, but until you’re not freed from the past, you can not fully embrace the future.

I know it’s hard when you feel betrayed, let down, afraid, and disappointed. This is life, there will always be problems, but it’s how you deal with them that matters. To improve your ability to forgive, you have to learn how to let go. Stop pointing fingers and blaming others for all the negativity you feel. Recognize that the emotions are coming from you. Try to see the positive aspects and try to move towards positive goals in life. Mentally replaying negative experiences certainly won’t help.

Forgiveness is also good for your body and can have a significant impact on your overall health: lower blood pressure, lower heart rate, reduced levels of stress hormones, better sleep, and more energy just to name a few. Yep, forgiveness can bring you long-term health benefits.

To sum it up, practicing forgiveness leads to a healthy and happy relationship. It’s good for your emotional, mental and physical health. If you decide to let go of anger and start working on forgiveness, I can guarantee you – it will pay off.

Mistakes are made, that’s a part of life. But even if at first glance the situation seems hopeless, most relationships can be fixed. To learn how to save your relationship, visit get ex back.
