The problem is most old-schoolers (yes, we mean your parents and his parents) didn’t get the memo. Here it is in black and white — those formally set-in-stone rules that just don’t hold up anymore (despite what the ‘rents say).

I’m guessing from the list of newbies that some people will be wishing old school comes back.
