  • From time to time I have to keep referring back to David Zurawik’s prediction from a few months ago

But within that overarching stucture, here is the dominant storyline that I predict will develop: Kate will emerge as the responsible parent holding the home together for the kids and providing them with whatever fun and sense of joy we see them having.

At the time I wrote “I got that feeling also especially after this. Jon is walking right into a media image trap and you can bet that many of those people who were in his corner are going to turn on him in droves.”

You could see that last part developing after the news of their divorce broke  But Jon’s escapades coupled by Kate’s media saavy (the Larry King interview as an example) seemed to accelerate the process.

Last week TLC put the final unequivocal stamp on Zurawik’s prediction:

In a stunning announcement, TLC said Tuesday morning that as of Nov. 2 Jon Gosselin would no longer appear on the popular reality series Jon & Kate Plus 8 — and the program would undergo a name change, to simply Kate Plus 8.

“Given Jon’s recent antics, there was no way the show could continue to portray him as a doting Dad, not while all this other crap was going on,” a source close to Jon Gosselin tells PEOPLE.

I suspect that this is only part I. Part II will be rebuilding Kate’s image. Which should be a lot easier now that TLC has cleared the way for her.

Update: Then again it may be a tougher chore than I thought.

Ummmm….Who is she kidding? Are we supposed to believe that TLC is paying her part time McDonald’s wages? I’m sure if things have gotten that bad they will give her an advance.

Update II: I have a feeling Jon’s story is closer to the actual reality.

“I’ve never taken any money out because over ten years, Kate handled all the banking,” he says on an episode of The Insider to air Monday night.

“Over the past four years of doing the show, we accrued $2,250,000. She says in the past week I took $230,000,”

I know I’ve covered these two pretty thoroughly for awhile but can somebody remind me again why they’re famous?

  • Aren’t they supposed to be on his side?

MEMBERS of Silvio Berlusconi’s entourage are urging the prime minister to seek treatment in a clinic for sex addiction.

The 72-year-old billionaire’s private life has been the focus of a long-running scandal since he attended the 18th birthday party of Noemi Letizia in April.

His wife, Veronica Lario, 53, has demanded a divorce and Patrizia D’Addario, a prostitute, has said she spent a night at Berlusconi’s Rome residence last November — which he has denied.

This scandal(s) has a lot of twists and turns to it but the Prime Minister remains very popular.

Update: This is from July but its a good recap of where things stand at this moment.

  • Megan K. Scott at The Associated Press:

brokeFor some guys, unemployment is the last thing they want to reveal to a potential date. Even if men aren’t expected to pay for a date, they feel pressure from women who are looking for someone who is financially stable.

“A lot of men are very careful not to say, ‘I’m unemployed,’” said Pepper Schwartz, chief relationship expert at Perfectmatch.com. “They say, ‘I’m working on this project. I’m taking a sabbatical from work’ or ‘You heard of GM declaring bankruptcy? I worked there.’ They find ways to make it sound like it’s not permanent.”

My question is are unemployed single women going thru the same thing?
