  • Helping Men Tackle Dating

    by Jayde Johanssen

Love is something that everyone needs at least a little of. Just as this is a universal truth, so is the fact that when it comes to seeking out romantic love rejection is a rather unavoidable evil at least once in a person’s life. The likely occurrence of rejection pushes a lot of people away from taking part in the dating world at all, preferring to play it safe rather than risk being hurt.

No one likes being hurt and rejection can cut pretty deep, but being a little vulnerable is necessary in order for love or any kind of romance to take place. A person must let their feelings be known if they ever hope to find someone who feels the same way about them.

Though times are changing, women often feel rather helpless when it comes to dating. While the social norms are transforming a bit, it is still much more acceptable for men to ask the objects of their desire out on a date than for a woman to do the same. While it might be frustrating for women, having the majority of the burden on their shoulders can be rather overwhelming for men as well.

Even though it is the social norm, having to constantly put themselves out there in a vulnerable position deters a lot of men from even trying. It is not often that people find themselves in situations where everyone’s feelings are clear and well known, thereby eliminating the risk of uncertainty and rejection. Many men would prefer to remain in the corner alone than set themselves up to be rejected repeatedly. This fear is understandable, but simply staying out of the dating game will not do much besides limit their romantic possibilities.

The hesitance and fear are more than reasonable, but there is one thing that men should bear in mind to help them in the dating world. Confidence is a powerful tool. A confident man exudes a certain aura that draws women in.

A self-assured man appears strong, reliable, and independent, which are all traits that women look for in a partner. Having genuine confidence also protects a guy against being crushed by rejection. A confident man takes rejection in stride, moving on to the next challenge in life.

When a man is happy with who they are then the chances of someone else liking them just as much are even better. Balanced self-confidence is so appealing that some women might even take on the role of pursuer in order to partner up with the confident male.

All too often a confident man can get too caught up in his own ego and come off as arrogant, which is something few women find appealing. Remaining genuine and self-assured is the best way for a man to head into the world of dating. A positive attitude is much more likely to yield positive results when it comes to life and love.
