Then in 2000, with their 30-year high school reunion looming, Nevin, now 60, and an instructor of child development at Santa Rosa Junior College, and then recently single, looked up her old beau. She discovered he, too, was unattached.
They met for coffee and the three decades of estrangement disappeared; the two were unanimous in their desire to reconnect.
