It may be too little, too late – but architect Peter Cook now says he’s sorry for the tryst that destroyed his marriage to Christie Brinkley.

In 2006, the discovery of Cook’s yearlong affair with Diana Bianchi – a teenage employee at his firm – effectively ended his decade-long marriage to the supermodel.

If he had the chance to do it over, Cook told the Fox News Channel on Sunday, he’d say: “No, I’m a married man.”

He’s got to be kidding.

An exuberant-looking Christie Brinkley said she “can’t really regret” her marriage
to Peter Cook, noting that “out of this union came Sailor, my beautiful little daughter.”

Triumphantly addressing the media after reaching a surprise settlement Thursday morning in her divorce trial from Peter Cook, Brinkley called the settlement “a very bittersweet moment.” She added: “It really is the death of a marriage, but it’s also I think a new start for all of us and I’m very pleased with the results today.”

Here’s my take. The longer this thing went on the worse it was going to get for Mr Cook. More than likely both sides wanted to settled but one more than the other.

The big loser in my opinion is not Peter Cook but the media. You get the sense they were licking their chops hoping this thing dragged on for awhile so the could really get into the sordid details. They can do all the post trial wrap up they want to but they know it’s over.

Oh well cheer up main stream media. There’s always a high profile divorce right around the corner.

Madonna keeps saying her marriage to Guy Ritchie is fine and yet the media keeps expecting a divorce and is looking for any kind of telltale signs.

That a new character should have walked into the story, spicing up the rumors, is no surprise. Not only are Madonna and Guy Ritchie reportedly divorcing but now Madonna is allegedly having a relationship with Yankees star Alex Rodriguez.

Go figure.

I put this under the divorce and break up category but who knows. For some reason it seems like the media is determined to end certain marriages. They get the rumor machine cranked up to a fever pitch and then start bombarding the “estranged couple” with questions about an estrangement that has not happened. Weird.

Leaders across the state have been meeting to find ways to promote and support “Fireproof,” a faith-themed marital drama set for nationwide premiere Sept. 26.

Eric Garcia, who co-founded the Association of Marriage and Family Ministries with his wife, Jennifer, recently visited the metro area to discuss the movie with local pastors and faith leaders.

Considering that about half of all marriages end in divorce in the United States It’s an uphill battle. One movie is certainly not going to change a culture but if it can get a discussion going then that’s a victory.

I think the days of quiet celebrity divorces are over. Hopefully not but when you see the massive buzz it generates from the media (as opposed to the Iraqi war which btw is still going on) you’ve got to wonder.

Both Guy and Madonna - who raise three children together, Lourdes, Rocco and David - have been seen without their wedding rings, and remain on different sides of the Atlantic, with Guy in England and Madonna in New York. Madonna, 49, is reportedly planning to move to America permanently, and is renovating an apartment in New York.

I wish Mr Ritchie well but if one party wants out then staying together becomes doubly tough. But you never know.
